Industrial design - 1951-1980
Gio Ponti, Superleggera, M. Singer & Sons, 1951.
The Superleggera was born to be a chair with these essential features: lightness, solidity and attractiveness (in fact, in the '50 Italy was coming out of the World War II). This draws on a typical chair of Liguria (a region of north-western Italy) tradition, the Chiavarina.
